Forensicare is the statutory agency responsible for the provision of adult forensic mental health services across Victoria. 

Forensicare is situated across five sites across Victoria with its largest site being Thomas Embling Hospital, located in Fairfield just 15 minutes north of the Melbourne city centre. Thomas Embling Hospital is a 136-bed secure hospital providing acute care, rehabilitation and continuing care programs. It includes a dedicated women's unit.

 

About the Role:

Forensicare is facilitating Enrolled Nurse (EN) Entry Programs aimed at giving recently qualified Enrolled Nurses a supported transition into a mental health environment. Programs run for 12 months and will provide program participants with a comprehensive orientation and professional development program that will equip then to work in adult acute mental health services. The EN Educator work under the supervision of the of the Senior Mental Health Nurse to support the delivery of EN programs within the Enrolled Nursing Scope of Practice. The EN Educator also supports the practice and development needs of the broader EN workforce

 

Duties:

  • Membership and participation on nursing educational and advisory committees
  • Identification of suitable education programs for nurses in consultation with the Senior Mental Health Nurse, nurses of the NPDU and Nurse Unit Managers
  • Development and coordination of education and training programs for Enrolled Nurses

About You:

  • The role requires excellent interpersonal skills, a flair for innovation and the ability to thrive on the many challenges that a program of this nature presents.
  • The successful applicant will have excellent time management skills, be able to forward plan for key activities and tasks, have an ability to prioritise key tasks, work to deadlines.
  • Extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience in current psychiatric nursing practice within a range of relevant settings including forensic psychiatry.

 

What you need:

  • Diploma of Nursing
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA).
  • The successful candidate will be required to register their qualifications on eCredential

COVID19 & Influenza Vaccination Evidence

Under the Victorian Public Health orders, all employees working within the Public Health system must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and Influenza and are required to provide acceptable evidence of their vaccination status. The current orders require evidence of three doses for COVID-19.
All applicants to positions with Forensicare will need to upload acceptable evidence of full vaccination against COVID-19 and Influenza as part of their job application. Acceptable evidence is a copy of your Immunisation History Statement which can be accessed via MyGov. For international candidates, acceptable evidence is documentation issued by the relevant government authority. Offers of employment will only be made to candidates who can provide evidence that they meet full vaccination status.
