• The Mental Health Nurse (RPN3) delivers care within a custodial setting, practising within a recovery framework and using sound judgment to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and maintain a high standard of patient care.
• The Mental Health Nurse recognises the individual's needs within the boundaries set by the profession, Forensic Care, and correctional services.

The Moroka Program is a 10-bed unit that provides specialist mental health care, treatment and programs to prisoners with repetitive and entrenched complex and challenging behaviours associated with mental illness, predominately personality disorder.  The program operates within a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy model. The Moroka Program Manager has responsibility and accountability for providing high-level management and direction for the overall operation of the program, including overseeing the delivery of the program, providing leadership and line management to staff in the program, and engaging with stakeholders regarding the operation of the program.

Located at Port Phillip Prison in Truganina, VIC. St Paul's Unit is a 30-bed psychosocial rehabilitation service that provides specialist, voluntary mental health care, treatment and therapeutic programs to prisoners with a mental health diagnosis. Participants selected for the program require psychosocial rehabilitation to minimise the risk of relapse and enhance their social functioning in preparation for returning to the general prison environment or release to the community.

About the Role:

• The Senior Social Worker manages a caseload of complex consumer needs in the context of boundaries set by professional standards, legislative requirements, organisational policies, practices and directives.
• The Senior Social Worker is expected to take the lead on civil order applications for Guardianship and Administration and lead the planning application and review processes for NDIS participants.
• The Senior Social Worker is responsible for developing and planning social work services to achieve and maintain a high standard of consumer care.
• As a senior, the position provides advice and collaborates with key stakeholders and agencies to develop policies and procedures and deliver training and supervision to staff, graduates, and students.

Forensicare's Prison Psychology Services

Forensicare provides specialist forensic mental health services across 12 of Victoria's 14 prisons. Our Regional Prison Psychology Services are an exciting component of Forensicare's mental health services, which operate out of the Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC). The clinical team at MRC is a multi-disciplinary specialist mental health service that provides mental health assessment, targeted psychological intervention, mental health consultation and transition planning for clients with impaired mental functioning. Operating within this team, the Psychology service will extend our ability to support men in the correctional system outside of metropolitan areas. When clinically indicated, there is also scope to provide transitional support sessions for clients who move between public prison locations.

As a psychologist within Forensicare's Prison Psychology Service, your tasks may include:

• Psychological assessment of a range of mental health issues, including high-prevalence mental health disorders, personality disorders, psychosis and trauma symptomatology.
• Individual and group-based interventions to promote clients' use of effective coping skills for managing mental health difficulties.
• Providing recovery-focused, evidenced-based psychological interventions. 
• Consultation and training for other service providers to assist with the identification of mental health issues in people in custody and facilitate clients' coping whilst in prison. 
• P3 psychologist with endorsed supervisor status: Provision of supervision to P2 psychologists and interns

 Qualification and Experience Requirements :

• Registered as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA) 
• Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from an APAC accredited course of equivalent, OR Doctorate degree in Forensic Psychology from an APAC accredited course or equivalent
• Endorsement or eligibility for endorsement by AHPRA in clinical psychology and/or forensic psychology 
• Previous working experience in a mental health setting, correctional service, or forensic mental health service would be an advantage. 
• Interest in working within a correctional environment and demonstrating empathy for offending populations who are experiencing mental health difficulties.

About the Role:

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join our growing, supportive and friendly psychology team! As a senior clinical neuropsychologist, you will provide specialised assessment, diagnostic opinion, and treatment and management recommendations for adults across the lifespan who are experiencing complex mental health and cognitive concerns in a forensic setting. The role includes working with individuals experiencing a range of neuropsychiatric, neurocognitive, and neurodevelopmental disorders. You will also work collaboratively with psychologists, psychiatrists, and multidisciplinary teams in units across the hospital to conduct assessments, provide feedback and secondary consultation, and design, implement and evaluate individual and group treatment interventions. Supervision of students from postgraduate university psychology programs, training and support for staff, service development, and providing consultation and advice to stakeholders and other agencies are also key components of the role.

Duties:

Participates at various stages in the consumer pathway of care which may include initial assessment, treatment planning, risk assessment and discharge planning. 

• Conducts comprehensive neuropsychological assessment of the cognitive, behavioural, and emotional status of preferred consumers 
• Has the ability to make appropriate recommendations for the care and management of referred patients including interventions designed at cognitive and behavioural rehabilitation 
• Has a consultative and coordinating role regarding the ongoing development of relevant cognitive therapeutic programs across the hospital including contribution to program content delivery and its evaluation 
• Provides knowledge dissemination related to neuropsychology for hospital staff, consumers, and other relevant stakeholders? 

Skills and experience:

• Registered or eligible for registration with the Australian health practitioner regulation agency (AHPRA) 
• Masters or doctor or qualification in clinical neuropsychology from and APS accredited course or equivalent 
• AHPRA approved area of practice in clinical neuropsychologist 
• Eligibility for membership of the College of neuropsychologists, Australian psychological Society

• Provide specialist primary, secondary and tertiary consultation services for AMHWS and other key stakeholders, including advanced specialist forensic mental health assessments, risk assessments, reports, and advice.
• Provide case management on a shared care basis with AMHWS.

• Provide discipline-specific contributions to the team's clinical practice and program development.

What you need:

• Possession of a relevant tertiary qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate Board (AHPRA) or Association (AASW) as a Registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or Psychologist.
• If you're a Mental Health Nurse, completion of a BA Mental Health Nursing or (BA Nursing) with Post Graduate qualifications in Mental Health Nursing.
• If you're a Psychologist, completion of Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from an APS accredited course or equivalent or a Doctorate degree in Forensic psychology from an APS accredited course or equivalent, endorsement or eligibility for endorsement by the Psychology Board of Australia in the area of clinical psychology, and endorsement or eligibility for endorsement by the Psychology Board of Australia, in the area of forensic psychology.

About the Role:

The Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) works closely with the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) to lead and coordinate the nursing team.

• You will deliver consumer based mental health nursing interventions as well as coordinate the resources and processes required to maintain a high standard of patient care through effective clinical leadership.
• Practicing within a recovery framework you will use sound judgement to assess, plan, implement, evaluate and maintain a high standard of patient care.
• In collaboration with the NUM, you will support the team to:
• work within organisational policies and procedures and professional standards
• promotes staff education and development
• participates in the training and supervision of nursing staff and students
• You will effectively manage resources on a shift and oversee the activities of the unit when the NUM is absent.
